Candelis Releases Next-Generation Technology

February 22, 2011 - IRVINE, CA

Candelis today announced the release of its next generation technology -- code-named 'Badlands' -- a WAN optimized solution which also enables its entire customer base to leverage the capabilities available in its ASTRA™ cloud services platform through a simple software upgrade. Candelis' ImageGrid appliances have been implemented at over 1,100 medical facilities.

Badlands enables Candelis' customers to leverage ASTRA's highly automated and customizable electronic report distribution service. Secure study transfer can occur between sites possessing Candelis appliances and between sites that don't; Candelis' ASTRA Plus provides a software-only DICOM-compliant transfer point (both send and receive).

Furthermore, Badlands provides Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) services with the ability to use cloud-hosted archiving. ILM services also provide for automatic tracking and management of multiple copies of a study.

"Candelis drives workflow innovation through active collaboration with its ever-expanding customer base. User feedback and guidance are translated into innovative, useful services that facilitate operations and help customers reap greater efficiencies in their practices," said Steven Higgins, CTO of Candelis, Inc. "Badlands extends Candelis' technology into the cloud, and provides material, easy-to-access capabilities including image exchange and automated, high-fidelity report distribution to all of our existing customers. And all of these services are protected by a robust security layer; data objects are opaque -- even to Candelis itself."

Badlands also comprises major enhancements to other Candelis technologies. Enhancements to Candelis' industry-leading visualization suite include the ability to generate customized and template-driven reports via dictation/transcription or a fully integrated Voice Recognition Module, sharing of hanging protocols and workflow preferences between radiologists, the ability to bookmark and "park" an open study and dynamic mammography image alignment. In addition, ImageGrid Web-enabled Visualization solutions can now be accessed via Apple's MAC workstations and laptops.

Radiology and mammography workflow are further streamlined with a fully integrated and robust Mammography Tracking Module, which itself provides for support for the National Mammography Database (NMD). Given the growing prevalence of multi-site imaging and healthcare facilities, ImageGrid's Workflow Optimization capabilities have also been enhanced for Wide Area Network (WAN) deployment, multiple sites to accesses services from a centralized server.

The latest release of ImageGrid will be demonstrated to healthcare information technology professionals at HIMSS 2011 in Orlando, FL at Candelis Booth #3731.
