Brando Enterprises Files Infringement Suit Against Furniture Retailer Rooms To Go

August 12, 2011 - LOS ANGELES, CA

Brando Enterprises, the operating entity created by the Marlon Brando Living Trust to manage business interests on behalf of the beneficiaries according to Marlon's wishes as set forth in his Trust documents, has filed suit against furniture retailer Rooms To Go for the alleged unlicensed use of the Brando name in connection with a line of sofas and sectionals marketed by the company.

Filed by entertainment and licensing attorney Jeffrey I. Abrams, Esq. of Los Angeles-based Wolf, Rifkin, Shapiro, Schulman & Rabkin, LLP, the suit seeks to recover damages caused by Room To Go's sales and marketing of the unlicensed "Brando" furniture.

The suit was filed today, August 12, in the California Superior Court, County of Los Angeles, West District.

"Part of our continued efforts on behalf of Brando Enterprises is to rigorously monitor the manufacturing and retail marketplace to ensure that any commercial use of the Brando name, image or trademarks is licensed through a negotiated agreement with Brando Enterprises' duly appointed licensing representatives. We will not tolerate any company's infringements on the rights of Brando Enterprises and will pursue economic recovery aggressively against companies violating these rights," said Abrams.

Established in part to protect the Marlon Brando name, likeness and personality on behalf of the Brando family, Brando Enterprises is overseen by Brando Trust co-trustees Mike Medavoy, Chairman of Phoenix Entertainment, accountant and business manager Larry Dressler and Avra Douglas, a family friend.
