Batavia Chiropractor Supports Local Food Pantry With Fundraiser

December 11, 2011 - Batavia, IL

Dr. Jack D. Sharratt of Sharratt Chiropractic has announced that once again this year his practice will be raising money to support the work of a local food pantry. This year will be the 8th year that the practice has held a fundraiser for the food pantry. Through January 31, any new patient who makes a $43 donation to the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry through Sharratt Chiropractic will receive an initial exam, consultation, computerized nerve scan and spinal x-rays if needed. The doctor will then recommend a holistic plan to address the patient's individual health situation, including a course of action to alleviate pain from headaches, migraines, sciatica, fibromyalgia and other sources, along with a back pain treatment program if appropriate.

All of the funds which the practice collects through this drive will then be donated to support the ongoing work of the interfaith charity. To date, Sharratt Chiropractic has raised over $10,000 for the food pantry. In addition to the current fundraiser, the practice continues to host food and clothing drives where the clinic collects non-perishable food items, gift cards, and gently used clothing from patients. The practice donates collected items to the Batavia Interfaith Clothes Closet and the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry.

The food pantry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer agency that provides food assistance to over 400 families every month from throughout the greater Fox Valley region. It has been in operation for 30 years. It currently serves low-income families, seniors, people with disabilities, those hit hard by the recent difficult economic times, and also delivers food to shut-ins who need assistance.

Commenting on the program Dr. Sharratt said, "As a chiropractor who takes a holistic approach to healing, I focus on wellness and stress the importance of proper nutrition and a balanced diet to all of the families in my practice. When our bodies are treated properly, we're able to realize more of the happiness and enjoyment that life has to offer. Not having enough food can cause serious health problems. I'm happy and proud to be able to offer my services to help our food pantry support so many deserving families."

The chiropractor has been focused on providing back pain treatment since his own diagnosis with Osteoarthritis at the age of 30. Finding that chiropractic care was the only form of medicine that was able to restore his health, he now provides Batavia holistic care to others with treatments that include natural chiropractic adjustments and techniques and spinal decompression. In addition to Dr. Sharratt, four licensed massage therapists help patients alleviate pain and restore full body movement.

Further information on the clinic may be obtained by visiting the practice's website at http://SharrattChiropractic.com. Offer expires January 31, 2012 and does not apply to personal injury, worker's compensation claims, federally funded programs, spinal adjustments or physical therapies. The practice will offer similar programs in the Spring, where new patients can receive an exam in exchange for a donation to the Clothes Closet.
