Barona Deals a Full House of Stars at Academy Awards Party

February 22, 2011 - SAN DIEGO, CA

Don't sit "Home Alone" this year and watch the 83rd Annual Academy Awards ceremony on your couch. Instead, head out to Barona Resort & Casino and join in the fun at a star-studded "Hollywood's Big Night" party to remember. On Sunday, February 27, you can place your bets on the Oscar nominees while watching the ceremony live on big screen televisions throughout the casino and have multiple chances to win $35,000 in cash prizes.

The stage will be set when guests arrive on Barona's red carpet and are greeted by staff members dressed in evening gowns and tuxedos. Celebrity look-a-likes of actors and Hollywood legends will greet fans, sign autographs on the casino floor and be available for "red carpet" photos taken by the "paparazzi."

"We're excited to celebrate Hollywood's biggest night and give our guests the 'red carpet' treatment along with multiple chances to win $35,000 in cash prizes," said Maylette Garces, executive director of casino marketing at Barona Resort & Casino. "We hope people will bring their friends to our ultimate Oscar party where they can hang out with the 'stars' in the comfort of the casino and not miss a minute of the suspense."

Anticipation started to build on Monday, February 21, when Club Barona members played their favorite casino games to win chances to submit entries for the Oscars' top four awards -- best actor, best actress, best director and best picture -- for a chance to win $25,000 in cash prizes. Members will earn one entry for every 500 myPOINTS accumulated between Monday, February 21 through Sunday, February 27. Each participant must choose the nominee that he/she thinks will win each of four categories at a promotional kiosk by 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 27.

After the televised announcement of each of the four category winners on Sunday evening, a corresponding cash drawing will be held in the casino. Participants who have correctly selected the winner of the best actor, best actress and best director categories will have a chance to win $5,000. For best picture, one winner will be drawn from the correct entries and awarded $10,000.

And that's not "As Good as it Gets." A Power Giveaway totaling $10,000 in cash prizes will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight on Sunday. One winner of $500 will be randomly selected every 20 minutes, with two $500 winners selected at midnight. All Club Barona members who are actively playing a slot, video reel, video poker machine or table game with their own Club Barona Card are eligible to win a Barona Power Giveaway prize.
