UK-based Girls Day School Trust (GDST) to set up school in India

New Delhi, Mar 14 -- Lavasa Corporation Ltd. has reached an agreement with UK-based Girls' Day School Trust (GDST), the largest group of independent schools in the UK, to set up a residential school at its site near Pune.

The school will be a co-educational, fee-paying school for 1,000 pupils, with up to 700 of them boarding, and is due to open in September 2009. This will be GDST's first foray into education in India.

"Our aim is to bring a high quality, 'Best of British' school to India which recognizes India's values and curriculum," said Rajgopal Nogja, President of Lavasa Corporation Ltd.

GDST Chief Executive Barbara Harrison said, "It's a very exciting and prestigious development and GDST is proud to be involved as a key partner from the outset."

On the educational front, Lavasa Corporation Ltd. and Oxford University have recently signed a pact for the establishment of Oxford University India Business Centre (OUIBC) to conduct business research and impart training to new generation corporate leaders.
