The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for the signing of an agriculture cooperation agreement between India and Brazil.
New Delhi, Apr 11 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for the signing of an agriculture cooperation agreement between India and Brazil.
The pact also includes clauses for cooperation in allied sectors such as research and development, production technologies and equipment, financing and micro-credit system for small farmers, post harvest management, agro and food processing, cold chain and labs.
Plans for research and development in the processed food sector, primary processing at the farm level, marketing, animal husbandry, dairying, aquaculture and fisheries, sanitary and phyto-sanitary issues, trade in agricultural products, exchange of experiences and expertise in rural development programmes and upgrading rural infrastructure.
A partnership with public and private sector institutions is also envisaged.
The MoU will promote bilateral cooperation through research and development, production, small holder agriculture, post-harvest management, animal husbandry, dairying, aquaculture, fisheries and rural development, which will be beneficial for the two countries.
