Mumbai - 15th November, 2007 - The Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, India, has today named Sasken Communication Technologies Ltd. as one of the winners of the National Award for outstanding in-house R&D Achievements (2007) in Computer Software Design, for its development and optimization of multimedia subsystems.
Introduced in 1988 by the Government of India to encourage industrial R&D, the DSIR annually considers in-house R&D units in various sectors for awards for their outstanding achievements. The objective of these awards is to recognize the work in in-house R&D units, demonstrating how their contributions drive overall technological & industrial development.

The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) is a part of the Ministry of Science and Technology, which was announced through a Presidential Notification, dated January 4, 1985 (74/2/1/8 Cab.) contained in the 164th Amendment of the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961.
