SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization) India, governed by SEMPO's Asia Working Group, organized its first meet today to understand the challenges being faced by the rapidly growing search market in India and how SEMPO can contribute in resolving some of them.
Mumbai July, 06, 2007 : SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization) India, governed by SEMPO's Asia Working Group, organized its first meet today to understand the challenges being faced by the rapidly growing search market in India and how SEMPO can contribute in resolving some of them. The meet was attended by representatives from Google, Yahoo, Communicate2, Pinstorm, GroupM, Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) amongst others.
SEMPO India Group is a Nonprofit Search Marketing Specific Trade Organization. SEMPO concentrates primarily on Education and Awareness with its aim being to serve the professionals and the industry involved with Search Engine Marketing (SEM). SEMPO India Chair and Managing Director, Communicate2, Vivek Bhargava said, "Although the internet population of the country may be less than 5 % however unlike developed nations this 5 % of the population would actually control over 70 % of the disposable income of the country, especially in all travel, financial and Lifestyle products. Search is the most effective medium to reach this target audience. SEMPO India aims to increase the awareness of Search as a medium of cost effective advertising." He further added, "The fact that these internet users have a huge influence in the purchase decisions of their families needs to be recognized and the group targeted to enhance marketing impact. SEM can help organizations in emerging markets reduce their costs of customer acquisition."
