Automaker Ford India on Tuesday launched the diesel variant of its mid-size vehicle Ford Fusion.
New Delhi, July 17 : Automaker Ford India on Tuesday launched the diesel variant of its mid-size vehicle Ford Fusion.
The new Fusion comes with a 1.4 L Duratorq diesel engine and 160 Nm torque at 2000 rpm. The earlier model was launched in August last year.
Ford India's President and MD Arvind Mathew said his company was looking at expanding its already significant share in the nation's mid-size segment.
"We are very happy with the response of the Fusion and since its launch customers have been asking us about the diesel version. We have taken their feedback seriously and today we bring you the Fusion Diesel. As the Indian auto industry sees a rapid growth, ford will continue to be an important and aggressive part of this exciting market," he said.
Mathew said the company has tremendous growth potential in the Indian market because of its constant innovation to stay ahead of competition.
Fusion was launched in India to provide greater comfort while driving on different terrains in the country.
"The modern city customers want value for money in a smooth and efficient car that drives well through city traffic and can handle countryside with equivalent ease. And, with our diesel and petrol variant we can offer our customers a wider choice to suit their needs and lifestyle," Mathew added.
With a surge in sales from mid-size cars to luxury sedans, the automobile sector is now being seen as one of the main drivers of the economy, growing at the rate of more than seven percent, analysts say.
The Indian automobile industry is experiencing a never-before seen boom with world's biggest carmakers making major investments.
Several foreign automakers have recently announced plans to step up capacity in India to meet the growing demand in Asia's fourth-largest economy, and use it as a regional export hub.
Economists predict Indian automobile market will see an unprecedented growth over the next two years.
